TAUNGYA FARMING
Definition: Taungya system is defined as the planting of arable crops at early stages of forest establishment and the arable crops are harvested before the trees form canopies. In this system both arable crops and forest trees are planted on the same piece of land at the same time. During this period, the arable crops are harvested first before the trees begin to form canopies.
